Version 1.1.0 PHP 7.4 — 8.5 DLE 15.1 — 21.0 Documentation Open demo

DLE Communities PRO brings Reddit-style user communities to DataLife Engine. Visitors create topic communities, join them, read their “My communities” feed and post, while the creator and the moderators they appoint run the community themselves: join requests, post review, reports, bans and rules. The site admin no longer has to do it all. Works with any template and DLE 15.1–21.0.

Highlights

  • Communities built on DLE categories. Every community is a regular category: SEO-friendly URLs, RSS, search, sitemap and meta tags work as before, and posts are written through the usual “Add news”. Existing categories become communities with one button.
  • Created in a minute. A two-step wizard: name, section, cover, icon, color, open, by request or private, 18+ — with a live card preview. Limits, admin approval and a DLE Reputation PRO karma threshold are in the settings.
  • Moderation inside the community — no admin rights needed. A moderator panel on the site: join requests, post queue, reports for their own community only, hiding and soft deletion, pinning, bans with a term, reason and appeal, and a log.
  • Private communities and invitations. Only members see the posts of a private community — they stay out of the site feed, search, RSS, the sitemap and template blocks. Moderators invite people by login or with an invitation link that lets them join right away, no request needed.
  • A reason to come back every day. A catalog with search, sections and “Growing fastest”, the “My communities” feed, “Hot / Top / New” sorting and a notification bell.
  • 18+ content. An 18+ community or a single post is blurred for guests until they click “I am 18+” — in cards, sliders and template blocks alike.
  • Any template, your own look. The catalog, wizard, feed and moderator panel work without editing the template. Four ready-made styles (modern, classic, minimal, bold), a light or dark theme and density change every block at once, with no flashes on load; eight ready-made covers for new communities. The “Appearance” page sets color, corner style, catalog layout and header contents with a live preview; every block is a separate .tpl file copied into your template with one button.

How it works

The admin marks sections — top-level categories like “Technology” or “Lifestyle”. Inside them visitors create communities: the module adds a DLE subcategory, makes the creator its owner and moderator and, if approval is on, waits for the admin. From then on the community runs itself: people join, post through “Add news”, moderators keep order.

A community page is its category page: the module adds a header with cover and buttons, rules, moderators and sorting, and shows “No posts yet” instead of a 404 for an empty community. Everything is output with template tags, and styles load only on pages that use them.

Features

Communities

  • Open — join in one click; by request — moderators approve members, everyone can read; private — posts for members only.
  • Invitations by login (with suggestions) and an invitation link — copy it, reset it, withdraw sent invitations.
  • Who posts: members, everyone DLE allows, moderators only (a blog community), or “members suggest” — a “Suggest a post” button, a moderator publishes.
  • Post review by the community’s moderators — a member’s post goes live after approval.
  • Eight ready-made covers or your own photo, 24 icons or your own image, 12 colors, up to 10 rules.
  • Catalog sections and optional top-level communities; reserved addresses.
  • Bulk conversion of existing categories with an owner and members from the authors; import of Velora channels and Pulsr communities.

On the site

  • Catalog: search, sections, “Popular”, “New”, “Growing fastest”, joining right from the card.
  • Community header: cover, icon, members and posts, “Join”, “Write”, “Moderation”, a bell for new posts.
  • “Hot”, “Top” for the week, month and all time, and “New” sorting on the community page and in the feed.
  • The “My communities” feed in your template’s cards; following a whole section.
  • An “About” page: description, links to the website, Telegram, VK and other networks, rules, moderators, members and stats; a moderators’ announcement under the header.
  • Notifications: a bell, a notifications page and, optionally, private messages (with DLE Message PRO — in its chat).
  • A community badge on posts, “More in the community” under a post, a “moderator” label in comments, “Communities” and “My communities” blocks for any place in the template.

Moderation

  • Roles: creator, moderators, members; transferring a community; the site admin moderates everywhere.
  • A moderator menu right on posts and comments: hide, delete (soft, can be restored), pin, mark 18+, move to the section, ban the author.
  • DLE reports go to the moderators of that community only: remove, remove and ban, reject.
  • Bans for a chosen term with a reason; a banned user cannot post or comment and can appeal; after the term they are a member again.
  • A log of every action — for moderators on the site and for the admin in the admin panel.

Admin panel

  • Overview with a template “Quick start”, Communities (approve, freeze, edit, transfer), Sections, Turn into communities, Log, Settings, Appearance — on native DLE screens in English, Russian, Ukrainian and Spanish.
  • No extra load: roles in one query per page, counters stored ready, catalog and blocks cached, the feed limited in the database.
